Marc and Rachel

I came across this photo that I took while on holiday in New York, back in June (I'm being lazy, but I can't think of what to post today). Now, I dont know what was more exciting; seeing Marc and Rachel together or Rachel eating?! Apologies, that the picture is blurred, but I was shaking with extreme excitment and it was also taken on the sly in an attempt for me to not look a major geek!

P.S Thanks for all the comments so far :D I really appriciate them xxx

Gaga for Maria Blaisse

Lady Gaga, do you love her or hate her? Famed for her attention seeking outfits, kooky hair and of course instantly catchy tunes, she's become an instant icon of our times. But after Dazed and Confused paid homage to '80s visionary designer Maria Blaisse, in their August issue, it made me wonder? Are her outfits as origional as we all first thought???

Bitching and Junkfood

At fashion week, so many people were wearing really quirky, kind-of-one-off-pieces. Especially at the more underground, off-schedule shows. Unfortunatly, I didn't have my camera on me when I saw most of them. However, after some 'internet investigation' I soon discovered that alot of the people I'd seen had bought there clothes from a rather quirky website called, Bitching and Junkfood.com. Now I don't know if anyone has heard of this site before, but I wish I had known sooner!!! They basically speacialise in vintage '80s and '90s pieces and they alter/accesorise them to make them more contempory. Here's a few of my faves...

How cool is this shroud mac???!!!

Shakespeare in love, methinks.

Feathers :)

Junior Gautier, i'm loving the triangular print, and according to SuperSuper magazine triangles are in! haha

XINDIER - Fashion Shenzhen

The Orient steamrolled into central London on Monday night, with an explosion of peoples’- republic-red, as Chinese label Xindier debuted its collection at Vauxhall Fashion Scout.

Head designer and founder, Xie Haiping’s collection had only one colour – red – enough to have made Chris-de-burgh’s head spin. A-line dresses constructed out of geometric panels, and sheaths adorned with traditional Chinese floral embroidery, were the evening’s prevailing silhouettes. The dresses became more and more fantastical as each model strode along the catwalk to sound of pulsating beats. It was a perfect example of the clichéd phrase, east meets west. And as the show came to an end, the Anglo-Chinese crowd displayed their appreciation as the freemason’s hall erupted with applause.

The evening titled, ‘Fashion Shenzhen’, was organized by The Shenzhen Garment Industry Association (SGIA) to promote the Chinese fashion and textile industry. But after such an eye-popping collection it seems less promotion and more celebration is in order. So go on Xie, paint the town red.

She-male

At fashion week, you do see some sights. However none more so than Andre J, who some may recogenise as the cover star of last Novemeber's French Vogue. Unfortunatly i couldnt get a picture in time when i saw him but here's an image of the world famous cover he graced.

Here's a link to the interview he gave to Fashion Scout after the Mattjis Show.

Lamb to the slaughter? I think not!

Rachel's collection, 'the skin I'm in', drew heavily on her Celtic heritage. She mixed an earthy colour palette with flowing silk jersey and structured leather. As the pace of the models and music quickened, the draping became more distinctive, symbolising the wrinkles formed during the aging process.

However, I did feel as if the accessorizing was a little cliched. As the models had rosary beads hanging from their wrists. I'm probably being harsh, as she could of gone one step further and had her models strutting along to the sound of The Cranberries (I'm glad she didn't).

Putting that aside, her collection was one of great beauty and femininity, and as one half of Kingston's debut pair, she sets very high standards for not only future MA students but for debut designers as a whole.

Body Lab - Kingston MA - NOC

Lab technicians, pulsating beats and futuristic fabrics were the order of the day for Naimh O'Connor, as the models' moved roboticly along the octagonal catwalk. At each point, throwing angular shapes, emphasising not only Niamh's inspiration from human movement but the wearibity of her garments.

Her debut collection entitled 'NOC' showcased a new take on 'sporting chic' - featuring light fabrics in muted shades of blue, orange and white - with emphasis on the upper part of the body. Billowing bat wing sleeves, vents and rounded necklines contrasted against the tight, fitted geometric patterned cycle shorts and leggings that covered the models' legs.

Overall, the collection demonstrated continuing technological advances in sportswear and with the like of sportswear Aitor Throup designing England's football kit and continuing designer/sportswear collaborations such as Puma and Alexander McQueen it seems as if Naimh is only at the cusp of something great.

A match made in heaven

To celebrate 25 years of London Fashion Week, Matches have set up shop inside LFW @ Somerset House. So why don't you get a piece of the action by snapping up one of their special 'Matches 4 London Fashion Week' tees, created by some of their fave designers in honour of LFW's anniversary. And to be honest I'm in LOVE with this Julien Macdonold T.
